La présentation générale du CV anglais

La présentation générale est le premier élément à prendre en compte pour votre candidature. Si votre CV n'est pas lisible, il partira directement aux oubliettes. Ainsi la clarté, la lisibilité, et la faculté d'adaptation au pays auquel se destine ce document, sont des éléments majeurs à prendre en compte. Voici dans un premier temps quelques conseils de mise en forme générale

Nombre de pages
A l'inverse du CV français, le CV anglais peu dépasser la simple page. Il doit être imprimé sur du papier A4 de bonne qualité (dimension 21*29.7 pour un poids de 100 à 110 grammes). Il doit être impérativement dactylographié. Couleur noir sur feuille blanche.
- Il doit être aéré et sans ratures (si vous vous rendez compte que vous avez fait une faute de frappe, réimprimez le). Les phrases doivent être courtes. Évitez le "pavé" de texte.

Structurez votre texte
Pendant la première phase de lecture des candidatures, les recruteurs "survolent" les CV. Vous devez l'aider à cerner directement les points clés de votre parcours professionnel.

Anglais US ou RU ?
Votre anglais doit être parfait. Faîtes-le relire par votre professeur d'anglais, ou une personne bilingue. Il est important de ne pas mélanger anglais US ou RU. SI vous postulez pour un poste aux États-Unis veillez à respecter les termes exacts, de même pour un CV en direction du Royaume Uni.

État-civil CV Anglais

Située sur le haut du CV, la partie "Personnal detail" doit mettre en avant les informations suivantes:

Introduction / Career Objective - Rédiger un CV anglais

Comme pour le CV français vous devez introduire vos compétences. Cette partie est l'accroche de votre candidature. En quelques phrases mettez en évidence vos compétences, votre parcours, vos atouts...

Formation initiale / Éducation

Ne mentionnez que les diplômes obtenus après le baccalauréat, dans l'ordre antichronologique. Écrivez les en français et indiquez leur équivalence en anglais. En effet, les systèmes éducatifs français et anglo-saxons n'ont pas toujours d'équivalence. Nous vous conseillons, également, de détailler les spécificités de vos formations. NB : Pensez également à préparer une photocopie de vos diplômes, pour le jour de l'entretien, il est possible que l'on vous les demande.

Il s'agit des formations suivies dans le cadre de votre activité professionnelle. Ne signalez que les plus significatives en durée. Cette rubrique peut aussi s'intituler «courses»

Special Skills
Il s'agit de vos compétences spécifiques à l'emploi convoité, aux langues à l'informatique...

Pour les langues (foreign languages), vous devez détailler votre niveau selon l'échelle suivante :
Bilingue <=> Bilingual
Courant <=> Fluent
Moyen <=> Moderate
Scolaire <=> Basic

Hobbies / Divers : Activities / Miscellaneous

Comme pour le CV français cette partie est réservée à toutes les activités extra-professionnelles, les centres d'intérêts (hobbies), la détention de permis de conduire. Le recruteur doit cerner votre personnalité en dehors du milieu professionnel.

Particulière au CV anglais, cette partie est quasi obligatoire. Elle correspond à vos références professionnelles. Pour cela, vous devez fournir au minimum deux noms, avec leurs coordonnées. Si vous postulez pour un premier emploi ou que vous n'avez aucune expérience, nous vous conseillons de mentionner les coordonnées d'une personne morale qui pourra garantir votre personne (un ancien professeur par exemple). Évitez cependant de citer quelqu'un de votre famille, cela pourrait être mal pris par le recruteur.
